Saskatoon was founded in 1882 and is the largest city in Saskatchewan. The 2016 census population was 295,095 for the metropolitan area. The majority of the population (68%) is between 15 and 64 years of age, with the average age being 37 years old.
The city is home to the University of Saskatchewan and TCU Place, which is one of their major art venus. Since its opening in 1967, it has been host to dozens of plays and concerts as well as live events and ceremonies. There is also the SaskTel Center, which is a main venue for concerts and major shows. This arena is the largest in Saskatchewan and can host up to 15,195 individuals at sporting events and around 14,000 people for concerts.
In addition, Saskatoon has hosted antique automobile events for over 25 years. These are now known as the “Cruise Weekend” and typically hosts 800 cars from across Western Canada.
While weed is still illegal in the province of Saskatchewan, legalization has been planned for Summer 2018. Due to the nature of the industry at the moment, there are very few dispensaries in Saskatoon, and most of them are medical only. Even so, at an average price $6-8 per gram, medical marijuana can be quite expensive. As some individuals can require 1.5 to 2 grams – per day – it adds up quickly.
